Sailing course for beginners

Two days at sea with lots of fun and learning surrounded by the magnificent nature in Northern Norway

The local health authorities has permitted us to offer sailing trips and courses, as long as we take our precautions to minimize the risk of spreading the virus:

  • All participants are obliged to tell us if they get a positive test for Covid-19 after the sailing course. This also include: Telling us if you have been near persons with Covid-19, or if you recently have been in quarantene for Covid-19 before the course.
  • If you are in quarantene, you can not participate on this sailing course.
  • On a sailboat there will be limitations regarding space. If you have to cough or sneeze, it is therefore important to turn away from other people or use your own elbow as a shield.

The sailboat will be cleaned before the course, and there will be handdesinfectants available for you on board. In addition, the sanitary conditions are good and allows for hand wash on board.

In this two-day course, you will learn the basics of sailing, navigation and boat handling. This course is suitable for you if you have only some or no knowledge or experience from sailing earlier on.

In the program for this course, we are referring to different chapters in the book Seilerboka. Although it is not an absolute requirement for your participation, buying the book will be a valuable supplement to the course. You can buy the book directly from us on our website or by attending a course. One copy of Seilerboka will always be available in the boat for you to read it there.

We strongly believe that learning by trial and error is the best way to learn. For that reason this course is organized in a way so that you get the most time possible at the sea with practical exercises and good guidance along the way.

On this sailing course, there will never be more than 5 participants, giving the instructor plenty of time to follow up on the individual.
If all or part of the program for the sailing course is not possible due to bad weather conditions, we will set up new times for the remaining program.

The course is organized on the east side of Senja with attendance at Finnsnes.
